The need for a rapid ecological transition, the war in Ukraine and the consequent surge in gas and oil prices have put producers and consumers in Italy and Europe in crisis. While Europe is pushing for a rapid decommissioning of fossil fuels, the difficulties of this transition are high both in economic, technological and operational terms. It is therefore essential to look around and not miss any opportunities that could help in the energy transition, mitigating costs and risks.
Can nuclear help in replacing fossil fuels? What risks and opportunities could it offer to Italy? And would it really be possible to "back off" nuclear power?
In this meeting with Umberto Minopoli, president of the Italian Nuclear Association, participants will learn about the prospects related to the energy market and the consequences of the absence of a nuclear industry in Italy, examining the advantages and criticisms associated with nuclear power.
In particular, we will examine:
