Development and Technology in India



India, a country of over a billion connected people, with around a billion mobile phones, is focused on inclusive growth as a strategy for development. In this process, technology has an important role to play in expansion, excellence, and equity. The present government has initiated several major programs related to education, health, rural development, urbanization, housing, infrastructure, energy, manufacturing, export, etc. The government has also launched technology initiatives related to UID, GIS, broadband networks, applications, electronic payments, etc. to increase transparency, accountability, and efficient and timely delivery of public services to people at large.
This presentation will provide an overview of development and technology initiatives of the Government of India to help reduce disparity, provide skill employment and opportunities to 550 million young below the age of 25, and expedite the process of development.
A closing on-line discussion will allow participants to share opinions with Sam Pitroda.
