Management insights from history's greats: Napoleon between strategy, delegation and the study of the enemy

Today's leaders, in addition to achieving pre-set business goals, must cope with a world of work that is in complete flux, including smart working, the great recession and constant turnover. It is a matter of having a winning strategy but also employees who can execute it, and for this, it is not enough to retain talents, it is necessary to make them feel part of a team, to empower and value them. Napoleon, for twenty years a master of tactics and organization, knew this well: thanks in part to his robust repertoire of soft skills he communicated strategy clearly and was able to create a true “esprit de corps”, igniting enthusiasm, infusing passion and energy, and creating consensus even in critical conditions.

What soft skills must a leader of today have? How to create a conscious and winning team? What strategies to make their own?

In this third meeting, Andrea Lipparini, will tell us how Napoleon dealt with these managerial dilemmas and how an incomparable leader in the application of tactical principles became a slave to his success by continuing to rely on strategies that had worked in the past, right up to the defeat at Waterloo.
In particular, the following points will be touched:

  • the leader's soft skills: right language and consensus building, self-awareness and attention to detail
  • the study of the opponent's strategy
  • the importance of making each player self-aware.
