WEBINAR LIVE
The perfectionism trap and the impacts on performance. The unbearable heaviness of perfection

Being perfect is what everyone should aspire to, at least in the workplace. Or is it not? Perfectionism is a paradoxical concept: seemingly positively connoted, in reality the obsession with perfection has a negative impact on performance.

But is there something wrong with the desire to be flawless? Does one have to be perfect to set an example for others? What is the fine line between precision and obsession and what are the consequences of crossing it?

This meeting will provide an opportunity to deconstruct the irrational myth of perfection from a consideration of perfectionism as a trap. Through a multidimensional analysis of the obsession with perfect performance, Thomas Curran, psychologist and world expert on perfectionism, will address the dangers of this approach for leaders as well. With a look at contemporary times and how society is changing, Curran will illustrate how a healthier relationship with perfection can be of great benefit to leaders.
In particular, the following topics will be addressed:

  • the perfectionism trap: consequences in terms of procrastination, risk aversion, decision paralysis and burn out
  • how to accept imperfection and turn it into a value.
